Beginning Recovery in Hotel Industry, reports STR Global at Bookassist4
For over 120 delegates at the 4th Annual Bookassist Hotel Industry Seminar, held at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin on June 23, the opening news was upbeat. Konstanze Auernheimer of STR Global reported on a definite change in the marketplace across Europe and in Ireland where demand was clearly returning to the market and RevPAR had passed bottoming out.
“From the current figures, we would be optimistic of a slow recovery, but not quite growth”, said Konstanze. “The demand growth is giving opportunity to hoteliers to look at moving rates upward again, or at least to realise that there is no need to be pushing downwards”. While the news is encouraging, it is early days yet to make stronger predictions through 2010/11.
